Story-tracks 9

Over the next few weeks, my goal is to collect a variety of songs from YOU!

… And then I’m gonna write short stories.  Loads of ’em, see.   Yeah.

Can't get enough of your song submissions, baby!

Can’t get enough of your song submissions, baby!

Think of it as a reverse soundtrack.

You know how musicians create an original score for a movie that will add new dimensions to a character’s motivations or build a moment to its breaking point?  Well, I’m creating an original story to the score – the Story-track to the music.

I’ll listen to all the songs you send me, choose several of them  (or all depending on the numbers), and write short stories inspired by the music and/or lyrics.  The final stories will be added to my Song Stories Collection.  I use the term “short story” quite loosely.  Some of these writings will be shaped differently.  Some may resemble poetry while others may be more of a moment or vignette.

The stories may not be what you expect, and they most likely won’t perfectly match the lyrics (if there are any).   At times, the tone or rhythm of a song may heavily influence the written work and change the course of the story or moment.

I’m excited by this project because it is exactly what I want this site to be about – art directly inspiring artists.

So, please tell me what songs you would like to see transformed into a different world.

How do I send you my song suggestion?

Good Question. It would be great if you could  choose songs easily found on youtube.  A link to the song is ideal.  That way, I am sure to listen to the version you intended for me.  However, including the song title and artist is completely fine and I’ll do my best to track it down.

Send your ideas to me using any of the ways below:

  1. Comment on this post.
  2. Email me from the contact page
  3. Write on the accidental crossroads facebook page

Thank you for being a part of my Song Stories Collection!

Tough to choose. I have so many songs I wanted to suggest so let me know if you’ll take more than one suggestion per person.

Here’s an 80s gem: Water by Martika. One of the first CDs I ever owned circa 1989. Enjoy!

Thanks, Crystie! I’ll take a listen. Should I know this song? Maybe it will be familiar when I start to listen?
